Munich University of Applied Sciences

The Munich University of Applied Sciences, (in German: Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaften – FH München (HM)) was founded in 1971 and is the largest University of Applied Sciences in Bavaria with about 14,000 students.
The University of Applied Sciences - München was founded in 1971 by the amalgamation of seven colleges of technology and higher education, some of which date back to the early 19th century. Today it is the largest university of its kind in Bavaria and one of the largest in Germany. Its great variety of well-structured study programmes, the instruction in small groups, its internationality and excellent contacts with industry and commerce make UASM a highly renowned university.
Students can choose from 2 diploma, 31 bachelor´s and 26 master´s degree programmes in 14 departments.
Approximately 470 professors, 600 part time lecturers with industry background and more than 350 technical and administrative staff are working to provide almost 14,000 students with the best education for their future careers. For the winter semester of 2008/09, UASM received more than 30,000 applications for ca. 3,500 places, which is 43% more than the previous year.
Munich is one of the leading economic regions in Europe and renowned for its educational landscape. The city is home to over 20,000 high-tech firms, a range of major banks and insurance companies, market leaders in the media sector and specialist branches of industry. In this environment the University of Applied Sciences - München developed a high-quality, differentiated, and application-oriented programme.
The University of Applied Sciences - München provides full-time and part-time degree programmes with a strong bias towards practical application. Before they embark on their careers, our graduates will have gained a thorough practical and theoretical understanding of their field while acquiring relevant on-the-job experience.
Faculty members cultivate close contacts to industry and commerce which take shape in a multitude of projects. Most of the graduates´ final projects are undertaken in a practical field in cooperation with national and international companies.
UASM collaborates with more than 180 partner universities in Europe, North and South America and Asia. International students currently make up 11% of the student body.
